Diversity: Veterans Affairs Panel

Summary of Program
The annual WCHRA Diversity Program, to be held on September 15th, will feature information about “Hiring Veterans in Today’s Workplace”. The program’s panel discussion will consist of three experts in the field and they will share their unique experience when it comes to veteran’s affairs and following the proper laws and regulations. The hour long program will feature information from each panelist on how HR professionals can be better equipped to deal with a diverse workforce that includes active military personal as well as military veterans.
This program will be facilitated by Deletha Lampshire from the City of Grand Junction and our panelists will include: Bethany Hall, who is the Veterans Employment Representative at the Mesa County Workforce Center; Stella Spencer, who is serving as a Staff Sergeant with the Colorado National Guard specializing in retention and career counseling; and Andy Earl, who is a retired member of the Army National Guard and specializes in recruiting and career counseling.
This program will also feature information about the ESGR, known as the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve, and printed resource materials will be available for our members to take with them at the conclusion of the program.
The WCHRA “Hiring Veterans in Today’s Workplace” program will provide our members with valuable information regarding hiring veterans as well as working with active military personnel and veteran’s in today workplace. Our members will walk away with a wealth of resources on how they can promote diversity in their workplace, how they can more effectively work with veterans, and a better understanding of the laws and regulations in place that affect hiring veterans in today’s workplace.
