I-9 Handbook Updated

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has updated its I-9 Handbook for Employers, also known as Form M-274. The newest version is: M-274 (Rev. 01/05/11) N. You can see and download this latest edition at the (USCIS) website at:

The federal government is continuing to increase its audits of I-9's across the country, so it is very important that employers stay up to date on changes and what we must do to remain in compliance. Some of the steps we should consider taking include reviewing the changes and updating our I-9 policies, making certain that the individuals responsible for filling out the forms are up to speed, and performing self-audits of our I-9 records.

EEOC Issues Regulations Implementing the ADA Amendments Act

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) has issued final regulations to implement the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA). The regulations clarify the determination of who has a “disability,” and will make it easier for people to establish that they are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The EEOC has available several fact sheets that explain the ADAAA, including Questions and Answers on the Final Rule Implementing the ADA Amendments Act of 2008.
